Recipe: Soya Chunk Roll with Red Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Soya Chunks:
- 1 cup Jasbro Foods Soya Chunks
- 1/2 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnish
For the Red Tomato Sauce:
- 3 large ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For Assembling the Rolls:
- 6 whole wheat or all-purpose flour tortillas
- Sliced cucumber, onion, and tomato for filling
- Fresh lettuce leaves
Instructions:
Preparing Soya Chunks:
- Rehydrate the Jasbro Foods Soya Chunks by boiling them in water for 8-10 minutes until they become soft and plump. Drain the water and squeeze out excess moisture from the soya chunks.
- In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes and add the rehydrated soya chunks. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili (if using). Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt to the pan. Mix the spices well with the onion mixture.
- Add the seasoned onion mixture to the mashed potatoes and soya chunks. Mix thoroughly to blend all the flavors.
Preparing Red Tomato Sauce:
- In a saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
- Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until the onions become translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, sugar, and salt. Cook the tomatoes until they soften and form a thick sauce.
- Transfer the tomato mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. If needed, you can add a little water to achieve the desired consistency.
Assembling the Soya Chunk Rolls:
- Warm the tortillas on a griddle or microwave for a few seconds.
- Place a tortilla on a clean surface. Spread a generous amount of the prepared soya chunk filling on the tortilla.
- Add slices of cucumber, onion, and tomato on top of the filling. Place a fresh lettuce leaf for added crunch and freshness.
- Drizzle the red tomato sauce over the filling.

- Repeat the process for the remaining tortillas.
